….ist eine in Amserdam ansaessige internationale Newcomer Band. Spannung und Energie sind Zentrale Elemente dieser etwas anderen Musik. Ihr Stil koennte als progressive Art-Funk beschrieben werden und richtet sich an ein modernes und aufgeschlossenes Publikum. BROWN VS BROWN steht fuer ausgefuxte Eigenkompositionen, exzentrischen, meist kollekti-ven Improvisationen, Spielfreude und jede Menge action. Komplexe, aber frische Arrangements werden dem Zuhoerer auf eruptive Weise und hohem musikalischen Niveau ins Gesicht geschleudert. BROWN VS BROWN – impulsiv, kompromisslos, groove-orientiert und beeinflusst von Free-Jazz, Math-Rock und shoes-in-the-dryer Rhythmen.

BROWN VS BROWN hatte schon Holland, Italien, Oesterreich und Deutschland getourt bevor sie die erste CD Ende 2005 auf-genommen haben. Von Theatern, etablierten Jazztemplen bis hin zu alternativen Rockclubs, BROWN VS BROWN kam, sah und hat Eindruecke hinterlassen. Schuhe-im-Trockner-Musik fuer das 24. Jahrhundert.

Noise, Silence, Action | Villa For Forest

Villa For Forest, Viktringer Ring 21, 9020 Klagenfurt In this event, the GMPU Experimental Music Workshop will perform works by Pullitzer Prize recipient, Diné musician and artist Raven Chacon; experimental music mavericks Christian Wolff and James Tenney; and founding member of the Fluxus Movement Alison Knowles. Each work explores alternative forms of musical notation including graphical scores and text-based event scores that result in sounds and actions that challenge the very definition of music and prompt innovative and unconventional performance practices. These works also encourage a new form of listening and engaging with music by probing extremal and liminal musical spaces: from the almost imperceptibly soft and sparse to the loud and dense. In some cases, the music even reaches "beyond sound" through the consideration of colonial histories and the navigation of social systems and their corresponding power dynamics.
