The Hyvä trio is a newly formed ensemble of three young and promising Slovenian musicians, originally from Ilirska Bistrica. These are drummer Žiga Smrdel, double bassist Peter Smrdel and pianist Matic Štemberger.

The ensemble works with an emphasis on creating original music, mostly under the influence of improvised and classical music, jazz and alternative genres. They also incorporate spicy jazz standards and originals into their repertoire with own arrangements creating a unique sound intertwined with mysticism, melancholy and playfulness. The debut album is expected in the coming year, which will set an important milestone in the work of the young band.

Brothers Peter and Žiga Smrdel have been extremely active in the field of music for several years – both with their band WCKD Nation and in collaboration with big music names such as Denis Beganovič, Tomi Purič, Robert Jukič, Tonč Feinig, Jure Pukl and bands Okustični , Vazz, Rock Zalokar Trio, Nazzareno Zacconi Trio, etc.

They are the recipients of gold plaques at the national competition Temsig and the important professional award Golden Flute, which is awarded by the cultural and artistic association Golden Flute for achievements in Slovenian popular music.

Matic Štemberger is a young and aspiring pianist who is active on the Slovenian music scene. Already at the age of nineteen, he won numerous awards for his raw talent, such as two gold plaques at the Temsig national competition and the Škerjanč Award for Outstanding Study Achievements and Merits in the Artistic Promotion of the Ljubljana Conservatory of Music and Ballet. He is currently studying jazz piano at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz.
