Rob Bargad (USA) – Klavier, Gesang (geb. 9. September 1962 Boston) studierte Jazz Klavier zuerst bei John Vames (New Trier West High School) und später bei Jazz Legende Kenny Barron (Rutgers University). Gelebt in New York City 1984-2004. Gespielt mit: Lionel Hampton, Little Jimmy Scott, Dakota Staton, Peter Bernstein, Carolyn Leonhart, Roy Hargrove und 10 Jahre mit Nat Adderley. Seit 2005 lebt in Österreich und unterrichtet am GMPU (Gustav Mahler Privat Universität für Musik) in Klagenfurt. Bargad ist Komponist, Arrangeur, Songwriter und Produzent. Er gründete und war Mitbegründer zahlreicher Projekte, darunter: Johnson 3!, Organic Mode, Ohr Geld Rio, Flozell, Franklin James Band und zuletzt – Trio RPM.

Philipp Zarfl (AT) – Bass (geb. 28 Juli 1991 Wölfsberg) 2014 Diplomstudium mit Auszeichnung am Kärntner Landeskonservatorium abgeschlossen. 2018 Abschluss des Studiums „Bachelor of Music“ in Amsterdam. 2021 Abschluss des Studiums „Master of Arts“ in Wien. Preisträger des Kärntner Kulturförderungspreises 2015. Tourneen und Konzerte in Deutschland, Schweiz, Italien, Slowenien, Niederlande, Ukraine, Belgien, Frankreich, Slowakei. Konzerttätigkeiten & Aufnahmen unter anderem mit: Jim Rotondi, Danny Grissett, Thomas Gansch, Ack van Rooijen, Brandford Marsalis, Owen Hart Jr., Wolfgang Puschnig, Igor Lumpert, Dick Oatts, Andy Middleton, Lukas Gabritsch, Renato Chicco, Oliver Kent, Mario Gonzi, Roman Schwaller, Lorenz Raab, Peter Kronreif, Howard Curtis, Joris Dudli, Jörg Seidel… Seit 2021 unterrichtet am GMPU (Gustav Mahler Privat Universität für Musik) in Klagenfurt.

Mario Gonzi (AT) – Schlagzeug (geb. 5. Mai 1966 in Mödling) spielt Schlagzeug, seit er fünf Jahre alt ist.
1979, im Alter von 13 Jahren, begann er sein Studium am Konservatorium Wien bei Erich Bachträgl. Seit 1982 tritt er mit Eddie Lockjaw Davis auf. Es folgten Tourneen, Konzerte und Aufnahmen mit Musikern wie Sal Nistico, Jim Pepper, Allan Praskin, Claudio Roditi, Karl Ratzer, Clark Terry, Vincent Herring und Take 6. 1989 arbeitete Mario Gonzi in New York City mit Paquito D’Rivera. 1992 spielte er in der Bigband von Joe Haider und Bert Joris. Mit dem Art Farmer Quintet, dem er von 1985 bis 1999 angehörte, tourte er durch die Vereinigten Staaten. Außerdem ist er Mitglied des Quartetts von Roman Schwaller und des New Orleans Hard Bop von Adrian Mears. Von 1998 bis 2008 war er Mitglied des Vienna Art Orchestra. Außerdem begleitet er Marianne Mendt. 2001 wurde er mit dem Hans-Koller-Preis als „Sideman of the Year“ ausgezeichnet. Seit 2010 ist Mario Gonzi Mitglied des in Wien ansässigen „Notes And Tones Jazz Orchestra“ dessen Leitung er 2018 mit seinem Co-Leader Daniel Nösig übernommen hat. 2012 tourte er mit alto Saxophonist Jesse Davis als Teil des Olaf Polziehn Trios durch Deutschland. Mario Gonzi unterrichtet seit Oktober 2010 an der MUK Privatuniversität der Stadt Wien und trägt seit Oktober 2013 den Titel “Univ.- Prof.“

Philipp Zarfl (AT) – Bass (born July 28, 1991 in Wölfsberg) 2014 Diploma studies with honors at the Carinthian State Conservatory. 2018 Graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in Amsterdam. 2021 Completion of the degree „Master of Arts“ in Vienna. Winner of the Carinthian Culture Promotion Prize 2015. Tours and concerts in Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Slovenia, the Netherlands, Ukraine, Belgium, France and Slovakia. Mario Gonzi (AT) – Drums (born May 5, 1966 in Mödling) has been playing drums since he was five years old.
In 1979, at the age of thirteen, he began his studies at the Vienna Conservatory with Erich Bachträgl. Since 1982 he has performed with Eddie Lockjaw Davis. Tours, concerts and recordings followed with musicians such as Sal Nistico, Jim Pepper, Allan Praskin, Claudio Roditi, Karl Ratzer, Clark Terry, Vincent Herring and Take 6. In 1989 Mario Gonzi worked in New York City with Paquito D ‚Rivera. In 1992 he played in the big band of Joe Haider and Bert Joris. He toured the United States with the Art Farmer Quintet, of which he was a member from 1985 to 1999. He is also a member of Roman Schwaller’s quartet and Adrian Mears‘ New Orleans Hard Bop. From 1998 to 2008 he was a member of the Vienna Art Orchestra. He also accompanies Marianne Mendt. In 2001 he was awarded the Hans Koller Prize for „Sideman of the Year.“ In 2012 he toured Germany with alto saxophonist Jesse Davis as part of the Olaf Polziehn Trio. Mario Gonzi has been teaching at the MUK Private University of the City of Vienna since October 2010 and has held the title “University Professor.“

Intentional & Random: a festival | Villa For Forest

Villa For Forest, Viktringer Ring 21, 9020 Klagenfurt Join us for an evening of music that explores the boundaries of sound and performance.

Beginning at 18:30, the event will open with a collaborative sound installation Quotidian Reminiscence in the garden of Villa for Forest. The sonic positions of the installation are distributed across the outside space, inviting listeners to roam around and encounter dialogues among eight micro-compositions that capture moments of habitual personal contexts. The installation will remain active throughout the entire event, providing an immersive sonic backdrop to three distinctive concerts. At 19:30, the first concert features a new work by Klagenfurt-based composer Bastien Brännland, alongside Matthew Schlomowitz's Letter Piece #5: Northern Cities, for two players performing music, actions, and text; Alban Berg’s 4 Stücke, Op. 5, which delves into virtuosic atonality through extended techniques such as flutter-tonguing and extreme dynamics; and John Zorn’s seminal "game piece" Cobra, where performers shape the music in real time through cues and gestures. The 20:30 concert showcases Julius Eastman's minimalist masterpiece Stay On It – a work by a composer whose brilliant contributions were almost completely lost but have recently achieved high acclaim – paired with Peter Ablinger's noise piece Nanophony for soft sounds and loud amplification. The final concert at 21:30 will conclude the evening with an experimental improvisation designed and performed by a quintet of composer-performers, sympathetically agitated by Christopher A. Williams.

From the opening collaborative sound installation to the final improvisation set, Intentional & Random promises a unique journey through sound, intermedia and performance. Whether you're a seasoned experimental music enthusiast or a curious first-time listener, this event offers a unique opportunity to explore the frontiers of musical expression.

Autorenlesung | Literatur- und Dichterkreis Klagenfurt | Villa For Forest

Villa For Forest, Viktringer Ring 21, 9020 Klagenfurt Der Literatur- und Dichterkreis Klagenfurt wurde vor 23 Jahren gegründet und besteht aktuell aus 13 aktiven Mitgliedern. Der Verein dient der Förderung von literarischen Werken, die von den Vereinsmitgliedern selbst geschaffen wurden.
Diese Förderung spiegelt sich insbesondere in monatlichen Vereinsstammtischen, regelmäßigen Lesungen, sowie in einer gemeinsamen Publikation wieder. Eine der Hauptintentionen des Literatur- und Dichterkreises Klagenfurt liegt dabei darin, LiteratInnen einen Austausch mit anderen LiteratInnen zu ermöglichen und sie bei ihren ersten Schritten in der Öffentlichkeit zu unterstützen. Hierbei legt der Verein auch sehr viel Wert darauf, dass das Vereinsleben stets von einer familiären Atmosphäre geprägt wird.
Im Juni 2025 wurde die aktuelle Anthologie „Freude am Schreiben“ im Eigenverlag herausgegeben, in welcher sich besondere Kostproben aller Autorinnen und Autoren finden.
