The quartet led by slovenian bassist Robert Jukič with Tomaž Gajšt on trumpet, Boštjan Simon on saxophone and Kristijan Krajnčan on drums has been working for 8 years. During this time, the band has developed its own sound, a conglomerate of four musical paths, four elaborate musical visions. Always on the search for freedom within the form, the music is constantly pushed into reinvention through new compositional challenges, on the edge of the possible, creating new possibilities and a new image.
They have released two studio albums (Caminos de gloria, Izza) and one concert album (Res Publica). Robert has already invited various domestic and foreign artists to collaborate with the quartet on various projects, this time they will be joined by Belgian pianist Bram De Looze, whom Robert has invited to participate in concerts in Belgium several times in recent years. Bram’s playing is characterized by a unique musical expression, unique technical perfection and musical maturity.
The first meeting of the quartet with the renowned pianist took place 2 years ago in Belgium where they played 3 concerts. Two years after they meet again to address a set of new compositions inspired by the abyss between an individual and the world we live in at the moment.
„Res Publica is intense and keeps us in suspense from beginning to end. Convincing.“ Jazzmania
„Res Publica is an authentic document of the stage energy and development of the group and proof of the mutual trust of the musicians. The quartet remains raw, uncompromising, vulnerable and dedicated to walking on the edge.“ Mario Batelić
„Robert Jukič gives the double bass in this quartet its own power and dynamic, and creates a big stage for a fabulous team. This is high art with a strong statement.“ Clemens Verhoovensjazz.net
