Born October 27, 1975, in Novo Mesto, Slovenia, Igor began his professional training at age 19 at the Bruckner Conservatory in Linz, Austria, where he studied with Doug Hammond. During this period, he was a member of Munich-based band Sidewinders, winner of the“Best Jazz Group of Germany” award.

After completing his studies with honors, Igor was invited by one of the world’s finest bassists, Reggie Workman, to study at the New School University in New York City. He received a scholarship and moved to New York in fall 2000.

In New York Igor trained with some of the world’s finest musicians—George Garzone, Reggie Workman, Buster Williams, Chico Hamilton and many others. In April 2002, Igor was selected for the New School All-Star Wayne Shorter Ensemble, which performed at the “Beacons In Jazz” award ceremony at the Supper club, where Mr. Shorter was honored.

Igor performed at jazz festivals in Munich, Ljubljana, Belgrade,Novi Sad, Csfero, at major jazz clubs in New York including the Jazz Standard, Cornelia Street Cafe, Supper Club Birdland; and venues all over the world with such jazz legends as Reggie Workman, John Abercrombie, Chico Hamilton.

Igor’s band Innertextures represents Igor’s passion for the music to journey to new and daring places.  He is supported in this effort by bassist Chris Tordini and drummer Nasheet Waits.. Igor has released three CDs as a leader:

“Innertextures live” (2012), just came out on Portuguese label Clean Feed Records, “Mineral Mind” (2009),   “Innertextures” (2004)   In addition to his work as a performer, he has an active career as an educator, having taught master classes and improvisation lessons throughout Europe and the United States.

SAMUEL BLASER | trombone

At a time when more musicians are trying to be heard than ever before, rare gems like Samuel Blaser seem paradoxically, to rise above it all. Since his 2007 debut as a leader, 7th Heaven (Between the Lines), Blaser has grown at an almost incomprehensible rate, from a straight-ahead hard bopper in his mid-twenties to an innovative free player and ever-searching composer and bandleader in his early thirties – one whose improvisational strength has received high praise from the media world over.

Born and raised in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, Blaser lived in New York City for many years before relocating to Berlin, where he currently resides. He began trombone lessons at the age of 9, and his early interests ranged from Swiss folk music to American R&B and jazz. He entered the local conservatory at 14 and graduated in 2002 after being awarded prizes in both the jazz and classical spheres, including the 2000 Benny Golson Prize. Participation in the heralded Vienna Art Orchestra and European Radio Big Band eventually led to a Fullbright Scholarship, facilitating studies in the United States at the SUNY Purchase College Conservatory of Music. A year later, Samuel won the J.J. Johnson Prize in 2006.

In his relatively short career, Blaser has worked with Swiss percussion legend Pierre Favre, pianist Hal Galper, drummer John Hollenbeck, saxophonist Michael Blake and François Houle’s 5+1 group; he has worked closely with Grammy Award winning producer Robert Sadin and most recently with Billy Mintz.

2015 will see Blaser touring with two trios: one with guitarist Marc Ducret featuring Danish drummer Peter Bruun and the other with French pianist Benoit Delbecq and American drummer Gerry Hemingway. As of November, Blaser is back on the road with his original quartet to promote his new album Spring Rain (Whirlwind Recordings) an homage to Jimmy Giuffre, with Russ Lossing on piano, Drew Gress on bass and drummer Gerald Cleaver.

MASA KAMAGUCHI | kontrabass

Bassist Masa Kamaguchi was born in Japan in 1966 and moved to Boston to study in Berklee during 1990. Joe Hunt was his teacher. He performed with George Garzone, Bert Sieger, Hal Crook, Herb Pomeroy and Frank Carberg in his Boston time. In 1994, he moved to New York and played in a number of groups, alongside Frank Kimbrough, Sonny Simmons, Ben Monder, David Murray, Toots Thielemans, Tony Malaby and Charles Gayle. In 2006, he settled in Barcelona, where he played with Albert Bover, Perico Sambeat and Lluis Vidal. He has recorded with Kimbrough, Ron Horton, Dave Douglas, Sonny Simmons, Tony Malaby, John O’gallager, Chris Cheek, Billy Mintz and Tony Moreno, Paul Motion.Thomas „Tommy“ Crane

GERNOT BERNROIDER | Schlagzeug/Percussion/Komposition

Gernot Bernroider besuchte als 17-jähriger Austauschschüler die Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan und wurde nicht zuletzt durch die dortige Bekanntschaft mit dem Tenorsaxofonisten Branford Marsalis in den Bann des Jazz gezogen.

Nach einem Studienjahr an der University of Miami zog es ihn nach New York, wo er sich während seines Studiums an der Manhattan School of Music (Abschluß mit dem Bachelor of Music im Jahr 1997), sowie am City College of New York (Master of Arts, Abschluß 2004) und wöchentlichen Gigs in Harlem mit Musikern wie Pianist Gil Coggins (Miles Davis), den Trompetern Manny Duran (Mario Bauza) und Philip Harper (Art Blakey) zu einem

“…brillianten Techniker mit eigenem Stil…” (Schwäbisches Tagblatt) entwickelte.

Seither hat es Kollaborationen mit vielen Musikern in verschiedenen Musikrichtungen gegeben. Mit den Vokalistinnen Annette St. John, Jane Monheit, “Monk Finalistin” Charenee Wade, Chanda Rule, Valerie Holiday von den “Three Degrees” sowie Musikerlegenden wie Dr. Billy Taylor, Ron Carter, Benny Powell (Count Basie), Dick Oatts (Vanguard Jazz Orchestra), Vernon Reid, Mark Egan, Donny McCaslin, Ingrid Jensen, Wycliffe Gordon (Wynton Marsalis), und der Abundant Life Church Gospelband in Brooklyn, New York, um nur einige zu nennen, hat Bernroider in den meisten Jazzklubs in New York, sowie Tourneen in den USA und Europa gespielt.

Als Bandleader seiner eigenen Ensembles “Nakujabe”, “Oulipians” und “Culturessence”war Gernot unter anderem auch auch im New Yorker Blue Note Jazzklub, im Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola im Lincoln Center, New York, sowie im Brucknerhaus in Linz zu Gast.

Im Frühling des Jahres 2003 absolvierte Bernroider ein intensives Studium afrikanischer Percussionmusik während eines dreimonatigen Aufenthaltes beim Stamm der Ewe in Ghana, Westafrika, und konzertierte dort mit dem ghanaischen Percussionensemble “Sankofa Root 2”.

Als Pädagoge und Lehrbeauftragter lernte Bernroider zunächst bei dem legendären Jazz Bassisten Ron Carter als dessen Lehrerassistent am City College in New York bevor er im Jahr 2005 von den New York Pops als “Teaching Artist” engagiert wurde und seither in verschiedenen Outreach Programmen an zahlreichen Middle und High Schools in New York unterrichtet. Bereits seit 2001 ist Bernroider als Schlagzeug- , Jazzcombo- und Jazzgeschichtslehrer Teil der Fakultät des jährlichen, sechswöchigen New York Summer Music Festivals in Oneonta, New York. Seit 2007 unterrichtet Bernroider Percussion und Schlagzeug an der Long Island Middle und High School in New York sowie an der All Saints High School in Hoboken, New Jersey und ist als Schlagzeuglehrer Teil des Jazzprogrammes an der Fordham Universität in New York.

Im Jahr 2012 gründete Gernot den seither jährlich stattfindenden New York City Musikmarathon in Mattighofen, ein viertägiger Workshop für Kinder, Jugendliche und Erwachsene begleitet von einer abendlichen Konzertreihe mit internationalen musikalischen Gästen.
