Antonio de Pádua, multi-instrumentalist, Composer, Band Leader
Antonio de Pádua is a Brazilian multi-instrumentalist born in João
Pessoa – Paraíba(PB) and has a bachelor degree in trumpet by UFPB
(Federal University of Paraíba). For almost 15 years he is professor of
trumpet, Cavaquinho (small brazilian steel strings guitar that looks
like an ukulele) and Pandeiro (also knows as tambourine) of the IMWA –
Musical Institute of Natal – Rio Grande do Norte(RN). He is the
conductor and band leader of the “Banda Independente da Ribeira” (Big
Band Frevo Orchestra) in Natal-RN.He started his musical life when he
was 10 years old playing trumpet and soon joined the Young Orchestra of
Paraiba. After that he played at the following orchestras: Symphony of
Paraíba, Symphony of Rio Grande do Norte and North-Northeast
Philharmonic Orchestra.
At 14 years he started working with marching
bands, and writing arrangements for that band, with whom he won some
competitions of its kind, especially one held in
Garanhuns-Pernambuco(PE), with the “Band of the municipality of Conde
banda – (PB)” which won the first place in the category arrangement,
competing withseveral bands from the northeast Brazil.He participated
in many music festivals and gatherings such as I, II, III, IV, V,
Northeastern Meeting of Wind Instrumets held in Paraíba(PB),
Maranhão(MA) and Pernanbuco(PE), also at the II Trumpet Regional Meeting
– Bahia(BA), I, II, II Chamber Music Festival-PB, among others.
He
joined the “Orquestra Metalúrgica Filipéia” nationally recognized for
its formation featuring top musicians awarded from the instrumental
music scene in Paraíba(PB), Brazil and internationally. He played at the
recording of the first album of “Metalúrgica” and traveled in 2000 to
Belfort / France to attend as guests of a large festival involving
groups from various countries and various genres.
